April 2, 2011 - Chelan County is offering a free White Goods and Metal Recycling Event at the Dryden Transfer Station for residents to get rid of most unwanted large appliances and scrap metal, and for a minimal cost, tires and auto batteries. It is ONE DAY ONLY! Last year, this event collected 370 tons of scrap metal and 240 refrigerators.

The Dryden Transfer Station on Hwy. 2 will be open 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and will accept refrigeration units, sprayers and automobiles. [There are 4 other locations which are collecting on April 2 as well, please refer to the end of the article to get the info on these site.]

There is a $20 fee for refrigeration units that contain, or once contained coolants. Units will not be accepted if they contain any food.

Tires & Auto Batteries: Tires and batteries can be taken to Discount Tire in Wenatchee, T.D.S. Tires in Wenatchee and Les Schwab only in Chelan. Fees vary by style; $2.00-$3.00 is charged for passenger tires and an additional $2.00 - $4.00 for tires on rims.

Cars, motorbikes & trailers with titles are accepted at Dryden. Orchard sprayers are also accepted at these sites, they must be well rinsed. Motorized units and sprayers must have fluids & tires removed. Tires may be removed at the site, but participants must take tires to an approved recycler. Contact the County Sheriff for lost titles, 667-6400.

Orchard sprayers must be rinsed; tires removed at the collection site or prior to delivery.

DON'T BRING:
Propane bottles, fencing, wire, cable, televisions, computers, pressurized tanks, mattresses, light ballast, non-aluminum canopies, enclosed barrels & tanks, or garbage.

Malaga: W. Malaga Road (County Pit, west of Malaga Fire Station, no unloading adjacent or near the station or training facilities.) 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Refrigeration Units, Sprayers & Automobiles are accepted.

Chelan: Rowe’s Wrecking Yard 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Refrigeration Units, Automobiles & Batteries are accepted

Entiat: City of Entiat Gravel Pit 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Refrigeration units & Sprayers accepted here. Autos not accepted.
